Chaplaincy and spiritual care at Brian House

We are very conscious that the diagnosis of a life-limiting illness is devastating for all involved.  It can be a very anxious and stressful time, and cause a lot of questioning and soul-searching.  As part of the care we offer at Brian House, we have a chaplain who is available to meet patients and their families.

Rev. Helen Houston is a Church of England minister and available to us for two half days in any week.   She has three children of her own and before she started work at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, she was a Chaplain at St. George’s School, Blackpool, and involved with a number of local primary schools.

Helen says: “I feel really privileged to be a part of the Brian House team and to work with such caring and dedicated staff and volunteers.  I am in Brian House most Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.  I am also available to meet patients and their families at other times and other locations to suit their needs.”

Our chaplain can offer:

  • A safe place to talk
  • A listening ear
  • Companionship on the journey
  • Prayer for you and those you love
  • Help contacting faith and community groups
  • Help planning funerals

Helen can be contacted through Brian House.
