Blackpool Night Run – FAQs

Blackpool Night Run – FAQs
What date and time is Blackpool Night Run? Expand

This year's Blackpool Night Run is taking place on Wednesday 27th August 2025.

Night Run starts on the Tower Festival Headland at 8.30pm.

However, we encourage participants to arrive from 7.30pm to enjoy the live entertainment and warm up!

Our Info Point will be open from 6.30pm should you have any queries about your entry or need to collect your t-shirt.

Can I register on the night? Expand

It is highly likely that all places will be allocated prior the event day. We recommended to register as early as possible to guarantee a place. Information on on the day registration will be updated nearer the event date.

Where does the event start and finish? Expand

The event starts and finishes at the Tower Headland across from Blackpool Tower. All entertainment and our Info Point will be situated on the Comedy Carpet.

How do I get my Night Run t-shirt? Expand

T-shirts are available to buy though our website for £10.00, alternatively t-shirts will be on sale on the night for £10.00

  • If you have purchased a t-shirt online a voucher will be included in your runner pack.
  • T-shirts can be collected at our hospice's main reception from 4th August to 10am on 26th August. Reception is open between 9am and 8pm. You'll find us on Low Moor Road, Bispham, FY2 0BG.
  • T-shirts can also be collected on the night. We strongly advise you come for your t-shirt as early as possible too, as it will be extremely busy. Our t-shirt point will be open from 6pm. Please note you must bring your t-shirt voucher in order to collect a t-shirt.
I signed up but can no longer take part Expand

We're sorry to hear you can no longer take part!

To free up your place for someone else and to avoid us printing/posting your pack unnecessarily, we'd be really grateful if you could let us know by completing this form.

We also ask that you don't give your entry to someone else without letting us know. Every participant number and chip tag is unique and assigned to your details. By passing it on to someone else, they won't be able to get their chip results.

Thank you

When will I receive my pack? Expand

Your participant pack should arrive in the post ahead of the event on Wednesday 27th August. If your pack doesn't arrive, please come to our Info Point on the night from 6.30pm.

Can small children take part? Expand

For safety reasons, this event is only open to children aged 8 and above.

All participants aged between 8 and 15 years of age MUST be accompanied by a participating adult (parent or guardian). Please see our full terms and conditions here for more information.

Do I have to run? Expand

As this is a running event and one that is chip-timed, we would love to see all our participants jog/run most if not all of Night Run. Remember though, Night Run is open to all abilities!

The run will start promptly at 8.30pm and has a finish time of 10:00pm. We reserve the right to impose a cut off time, to allow the site to be cleared of participants, equipment and litter prior to the road closure ending. Due to this, runners must complete within the 1 hour 30 minutes time frame. If runners are unable to complete the 7.5km route within this time they must move onto the pavement and notify their nearest Marshall.

For safety reasons, we strongly encourage elite runners to make their way to the front of the start line, and any novice runners to begin at the back.

If you think you'd prefer to take part in a walking event, check our our Memory Walk

How long do I have to complete Night Run? Expand

You will have 1 hour 30 minutes to complete the route.

After this time we are required to re-open the roads and must therefore begin packing away the event.

If you don't think you're going to complete the run in this time, please let your nearest marshal or back car know.

How long is the route? Expand

Night Run is 7.5km

Participants will start at the Tower Festival Headland and head north along a traffic-free Promenade. You'll run under Blackpool's famous Illuminations towards the turning point at Red Bank Road, Bispham.

You will then run back along the same route to the finish line to collect your medal!

Can I dress up? Expand
Absolutely! We encourage you to wear a Night Run t-shirt available to purchase or a bright coloured t-shirt, but if you want to add to your outfit then please do!
T-shirts we'll be available to purchase on the night for £10.00. We'll also be selling a number of fancy dress items at the event however if you want to sort your outfit in advance, visit out online shop.
Will there be refreshments? Expand

We'll give you a bottle of water on crossing the finish line, but we encourage you to bring your own.

There will also be concession stands at the event. We cannot guarantee they take card payments, so please bring change as a backup.

Will the Illuminations be switched on? Expand

Yes! Taking part in this event is the perfect opportunity to have a sneak peek before the official switch-on on the Friday.

Will there be any toilets? Expand

Yes, toilet facilities will be available.

Will there be any changing & shower facilities on site? Expand

Unfortunately, there will be no changing or shower facilities at the event.

Will there be first aid? Expand

We take our participants' safety very seriously at all our events. First aid will therefore be available.

If you do need assistance, please tell your nearest marshal or first aider.

I have a medical condition, do I have to let you know beforehand? Expand

No, but please ensure you complete the medical information on the reverse of your entry number ahead of the event.

Every participant MUST complete these details and pin their participant number to their t-shirt (front or back).

Can my friends and family come and watch? Expand

Friends and family are more than welcome to come and watch you take part in Blackpool Night Run!

Can I take photos and videos? Expand

We would love to see everyone’s photos and videos, including before and after shots.

If you're nervous about bringing your phone, ask friends or family not taking part to take some snaps of you. We’ll also have our own photographers attending the event, so you could leave your phone in your bag or at home. Please see our Q&A regarding our official photographs for more info.
Will there be any photographers? Expand

As with all our events, there will be at least two volunteer photographers at this event. Members of our Fundraising Team will also be taking photos and capturing video.

Photos will then be shared in a public album on Facebook the week following the event, and linked to in the post-event email. Have a browse through and tag yourself and anyone else you know!
Please note that we don't receive all the photos from our volunteer photographers at the same time. If you think your pic was taken but don't see it online straight away, it might be because we don't have it yet. Please bear with us; we'll upload more as soon as we have them. Equally, the quality of the photo may be poor and the photographer may therefore decided not to share it. As a result, and to avoid disappointment, we strongly encourage participants to take their own photos, or ask one of our volunteers to take one for you!
What if the weather isn’t brilliant? Expand

Not much can put us off going ahead with Blackpool Night Run, so the event will still go ahead even if it's a bit cold or rainy. However, we’d definitely think twice if the wind was getting a bit much and making the event unsafe.  Keep an eye on social media for updates nearer the date.

What's included with my FREE entry? Expand

Aside from entry to Blackpool's ONLY 7.5km fun run, you'll also get:

  • A Night Run t-shirt
  • Unique participant number
  • Bespoke medal
  • Chip-timing
Do I need to raise sponsorship and how do I do it? Expand

As this year's event is free to enter, we’re kindly asking all participants to consider either raising sponsorship or making a one-off donation.

Every single pound and penny will go to Brian House Children’s Hospice; it doesn’t go towards the cost of putting on the event or all the freebies you get with your entry.

We ask that every runner try to raise or donate a minimum of £30.

If every participant raise or donated at least £30, it would raise £75,000 - just incredible!

You can raise sponsorship in two ways (you can do one or the other or both together):

Online through JustGiving

Offline using our paper sponsorship form

And it doesn't just have to be a direct ask for money. See our other ideas here.

And to say thank you, we're giving away an Apple Watch. Find out more on our 'how do I win an Apple Watch' tab.

All sponsorship and donations for to Brian House children's hospice; they do not cover the cost of the event.

How do I get my sponsorship/donations to you? Expand

If you've used JustGiving, you don't need to do anything! Your Blackpool Night Run sponsorship page will close automatically after a few months and the funds will come directly to us.

If you've collected funds offline, there are a couple of ways to get it to us:

  • Bank it all and then post us a cheque made out to 'Brian House Children's Hospice'. Alternatively, call in to our Main Reception. You'll find us at Low Moor Road, Bispham, FY2 0BG.

Please make sure you include a note with your full name, address and contact telephone number on. It would also help if you told us the sponsorship money has been raised through Night Run.

  • Use our donation form on our website, selecting Night Run as your option.

However you collect and submit your sponsorship, remember to ask everyone who’s eligible to GiftAid their contribution – it would mean we get an extra 25% from the Government at no extra cost to the person, all by just by ticking a box. How good is that?

I can't raise sponsorship - what can I do instead? Expand

We understand that not everyone wants to or is able to raise sponsorship, but still wants to do their bit for Brian House.

If that's you, don't worry! Instead, you can make a one-off donation for as much as you'd like on our dedicated donation page.

Whilst every amount is hugely appreciated, we're kindly asking that everyone considers donating £30. If every person can do that, it'll help raise an incredible £75,000 for our children's hospice.

And if you donate over £50, you'll be in with a chance of winning an Apple watch worth over £200! You can find out more in our tab below.

Will there be bag storage? Expand

We do not offer bag storage at this event for safety reasons and due to the number of participants.

Please bring minimal possessions to run with or ask friends or family to look after them, if they're coming to spectate.

Can I bring my dog? Expand

Unfortunately, we don't allow dogs at Night Run.

We have 4,000 participants so it would be a safety hazard for both your dog and our runners.

Dogs are welcome at Blackpool Memory Walk and Santa Dash though!

Where can I park? Expand

There are lots of pay and display carparks around Blackpool town centre, however these get extremely busy so please allow enough time to find a space and get to the Tower Headland.

If you need to park further out or are planning to use public transport, the tram is a great option. This runs from Fleetwood to Starr Gate and stops at the Tower Headland/Comedy Carpet where you will need to jump off.

Please bring change and have a card to hand as payment method may vary between carparks.
